Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! Today, I’m bringing you a review of a product I picked up at a GS25 convenience store, completely lured in by a shiny promotional sticker: the “Yours” Coffee Bean Decaf Americano.
Let me cut straight to the chase: my rating for this is a devastating 0.5 out of 5 stars. Why such a shockingly low score? Grab a seat, because here is my completely unfiltered, brutal review.
I saw that GS25 was running a “1+1” (Buy One Get One Free) promotion. Thinking, “Oh, it’s from The Coffee Bean brand AND it’s decaf? What a steal!” I immediately bought it.
However, looking closely at the packaging, it completely lacked that premium, established vibe you usually expect from “The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf” brand. Looking back, that was my first red flag.
The moment I took my first sip, my brain just went, “What on earth is this?” Forget comparing it to an actual Coffee Bean cafe drink; this tasted significantly worse than the ultra-cheap $1.50 mega-sized coffees you can get from local budget franchise cafes in Korea.
It hits you with that notoriously flat, watery emptiness that badly made decaf coffees have. But it doesn’t stop there—it completely ruins your palate with an intensely sharp, unbalanced sourness (acidity). The aftertaste it leaves in your mouth isn’t clean at all; it’s chalky and unpleasant.
Did it taste bad because I drank it straight without a cup of ice? Absolutely not. If I had poured this over ice, it would have literally just tasted like sour tap water. It is that watery.
Even when I tried to film it or take photos, the color looked dull, lacking any of that refreshing visual appeal you want from an iced coffee. It was a letdown visually and gastronomically.
Who do I recommend this to?
